Lanzarote for Ladies: Five Luxurious Things to Do During Your Trip

Despite only being the fourth largest of the Canary Islands, beautiful Lanzarote makes up for its diminutive stature with a plethora of fantastic attractions and experiences for all kinds of holidaymakers. If you’re heading there on a girls’ holiday this summer, you’ll find plenty of great things to do together that will make your trip one to remember – especially if you have a taste for the finer things in life, and after all, shouldn’t all holidays have a generous splash of luxury? Here’s our pick of five activities to put on your to-do lists whilst visiting this sun-drenched island.

Watch the Sun Set at Café Del Mar
You don’t have to go all the way to Ibiza to chill out at this legendarily laid-back bar. You’ll find Lanzarote’s Café Del Mar in Playa Blanca at the elegant Marina Rubicon, and it’s every inch as cool as its famous location in Ibiza. Grab a cocktail with the girls, bag a table by the water and watch the sun go down over the water for an idyllic end to a day of sunbathing – or start of an evening of clubbing.

Get Pampered at a Hotel Spa
Even if you’re heading to Lanzarote for a week of partying, don’t forget to schedule in some down-time and relax together at a lavish spa. Numerous hotels around Lanzarote have their own on-site spas, including the Despacio Thalasso Centre at the H10 Rubicón Palace in Playa Blanca, where you can indulge yourselves with anything from a Jacuzzi to completely personalised treatments! What’s more, you also get the added bonus of a gorgeous view over the water, which will be the perfect backdrop to your post-spa champagne.

Shop ‘Til You Drop in Arrecife
Lanzarote’s capital, Arrecife is a haven for bargain hunters and brand-name enthusiasts, with every type of store from duty-frees to designer boutiques lining its main avenues. You’ll find all the big international names on the Calle Real, including Zara, Mango and Vera Moda, plus a department store in which you’ll discover some chic local brands. Even more shops await your perusal on La Plazuela, which runs parallel to Calle Real, and once you’ve all exhausted your legs (or your budget) head for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat by the water.

Sample the Local Cuisine
Across the Canary Islands, the local cuisine is an intriguing mélange of traditional Spanish cooking, and distinctive African and Latin flavours. For the most authentic taste of Lanzarote, share a few tapas dishes between you, or go all-out and try a local delicacy called ‘conejo’ – a tasty rabbit stew. Lanzarote is also famed for its delicious fish dishes, with the likes of tuna, sea bass, swordfish and lobster all caught and served the same day, so you’ll always enjoy them at their best.

Dive Beneath Lanzarote’s Surface
Give your holiday to Lanzarote with the girls the ‘wow’ factor by joining a scuba diving trip, and getting a glimpse below the surface of the water around the island. There are a number of scuba diving schools around Lanzarote that accommodate for everyone, from absolute beginners to experienced divers, so you can all enjoy a swim with the island’s fishier residents and make your trip one you won’t soon forget.
